Dr. Harold Selcon is a retired general practitioner and regular contributor of historical articles to The New Writer and The Writer, the Journal of the Society of Medical Writers. For most of his working life he was a general practitioner in the small market town of Llandysul, where the practice was in the direct line of succession from that of Henry Harries Davis, the family doctor of Sarah Jacob, the 'Welsh Fasting Girl' - one of the reasons for his interest in local and medical history. Since his retirement from medical practice in 1998, he has spent much of his time researching and writing about these and other more general literary topics. His next book, Myth, Magic, Medicine & History: the Story of the Physicians of Myddfai will be available later this year. |
